Dr. Ahmed Nishan is the Head of Surgery and Senior Consultant in Surgery at ADK Hospital. A highly experienced general, laparoscopic, and bariatric surgeon, he has been practising as a specialist since 2011. He is widely recognised as a pioneer of bariatric surgery and advanced laparoscopic hernia surgery in the Maldives, playing a key role in introducing several innovative minimally invasive surgical techniques to the country.

Dr. Nishan has extensive expertise in advanced laparoscopic and gastrointestinal surgery, metabolic and bariatric surgery, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, and colorectal procedures. He has introduced advanced procedures including Totally Extraperitoneal (TEP) and Extended Totally Extraperitoneal (eTEP) hernia repair, laparoscopic bowel resection, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass surgery, and laser surgery for pilonidal disease and anal fistula. In addition to his clinical practice, he has served as the Vice President and Executive Secretary of the Maldives Association of Surgeons, contributing to the advancement of surgical practice in the Maldives.
